Red Velvet Pound Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting
rec.food.baking/Finocchio/1999

This is absolutely a wonderful cake recipe (very easy) and I bake this every year for Valentine's Day and my uncle's birthday (his favorite cake). This treat is very southern.

one box butter-flavored yellow cake mix
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
1 stick butter, softened
3 eggs
1 cup water

Mix everything well.

1 bottle red food coloring (1 oz.)

Add to the mixture and mix well. Pour into a 10 inch tube pan that has been coated with nonstick vegetable spray. Bake 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes till done. Let cool for 15 minutes then invert on a rack to cool completely.

Make frosting - whip together:
1 package cream cheese
1/2 stick butter, softened
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 Tbsp. milk
