Recipe: Sloppy Joes - Rival/Sloppy Joes A La Bobby

Misc.

I found the following 2 recipes that may help you.

1. "Sloppy Joes"
From my Rival Crock-ette cookbook:

1 pound ground chuck or hamburger
1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
1/4 cup green pepper, finely chopped
1 8-ounce can tomato sauce
1 6-ounce can tomato paste
*2 tbsp. sloppy joe seasoning mix
salt to taste

Brown ground meat, rinse well and drain. Place in crockette. Add remaining
ingredients. Stir thoroughly. Cover and cook 8-12 hours.
*I swear by Pennzey's mail order spices (or in your community)

2. "Sloppy Joes A LaBobby"
From a magazine clipping (unknown)
3 lbs. ground beef
1 cup chopped onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
1-1/2 cup ketcup
1 cup chopped green pepper
1/2 cup water
4 tbsp. brown sugar
4 tbsp. prepared mustard
4 tbsp. vinegar
4 tbsp. worcestire sauce
3 tsp. chili powder
hamburger buns

In a large skilled brown ground beef, onion and garlic. Cook until meat is
brown and onion is tender. Drain off fat. In any size crock-pot, combine
ketsup, green pepper, water, brown sugar, mustard, vinegar, worchestire sauce
and chili powder. Stir in meat mixture. Cover and cook on low 6-8 hours or
high 3-4 hours. Spoon onto hamburger buns. Serves 8-10.
variation: Substitute ground turkey, chicken or pork for ground beef.

GOOD LUCK!
