Recipe: Sweet Pickles from Dill

Sweet Pickles from Dill

Drain juice from 1 quart of dill pickles and discard juice. Do not use pickles with garlic in them!

Cut each pickle lengthwise into 4 strips.

Put the pickles back in the jar amd add 1 stick of cinnamon and some dill, if you have it.

Combine in a saucepan:
2 cups sugar
1 cup apple cider vinegar
1 TBSP. celery seed
1 1/2 tsp. mustard seed

Bring to boiling, stirring till sugar is dissolved.. a couple minutes.

Skim the spices from the sugar/vinegar mixture and put into the jar. Pour hot mixture over the pickles.

Put the lid on the jar and leave set out until at room temperature.

When pickles have cooled, set the jar in the refrigerator for 7 days before using.
