Recipe: Watermelon Wavelength and Dangerously Red (smoothies) (blender)

Beverages
WATERMELON WAVELENGTH

This is a fabulously refreshing drink. The sorbet base makes it less filling than the yogurt-based smoothies. Have it in the morning with the kids, then reserve some for cocktail hour with a shot of vodka.

1 1/2 cups diced seeded watermelon
3/4 cup lemon sorbet
8 ice cubes
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
Pinch of salt

Place all the ingredients in a blender. Blend until smooth.

Makes 2 servings

DANGEROUSLY RED

Surprise out-of-town guests with this creamy breakfast drink. It also would work nicely as a quick, light summer dessert.

1 cup low-fat strawberry yogurt
1/2 cup cranberry juice
1 1/2 cups hulled and quartered fresh strawberries, frozen
1 cup fresh raspberries, frozen

Combine the yogurt and cranberry juice in a blender. Add the strawberries and raspberries. Blend until smooth.

Makes 2 servings
