ISO: A Different Make Ahead Turkey Gravy

Misc.
I have found lots of links to the make ahead gravy recipe that ran in Woman's Day in 1999. However, they ran a similar recipe prior to 1999. I only remember bits and pieces of it, but it was very, very good. It involved simmering veggies and the giblets and neck in broth ahead of time. On serving day, the stock was reheated, drippings and extra water were added to the stock, and butter-LOTS- was mixed with flour, then whisked bit by bit into the gravy. My problem is just that I don't remember how much of everything to use. Is anyone familiar with this technique? I would greatly appreciate any help.
