ISO: Appitizer and side dish ideas needed for Wedding

I am looking to bringing 2 dishes to a friends wedding. The main course will be ham sandwiches and I am looking for ideas for a appitizer and side dish. I would like this to easy to make and prep prior to the occasion. I really have no ideas other then puff pastry with tomato and basil and side dish is some sort of potato dish. I am open to any ideas that could help me decide. Thank you for helping me in my quest to bring tastieness to the table.
