ISO: Beef Stroganoff (crock pot) - question

Pam,
I'm trying your recipe right now. I made it pretty much like you said except i was wondering if i should sear the beef a little in olive oil before adding to the crock pot. I was worried the flour mixture would just wash off when i added the liquids.
