ISO: Can I freeze apples and pears?

I have an abundance of apples and pears. How do I preserve them? I will never be able to eat them all.

I don't really like applesauce, so that's not a good option.

Can I freeze them raw, or do I have to bake pies or something like that before freezing?

HELP!!
