ISO: cream pull candy

Misc.

I have several versions of this recipe and have tried on several occasions to make it but have never had complete success. Sometimes it suddenly gets very grainy and brittle and turns into a big lump halfway through the pulling process. Sometimes it just never does get creamy. Do you have any advice? It the temperature off perhaps (in the first case), or are we not pulling it long enough (in the second case)? I LOVE this stuff and would love to be able to make it successfully myself. Thanks!
