ISO: Crisp Dill Pickles

I've tried canning dill pickles using a 5-minute boil bath method, but the
pickles end up mushy instead of nice and crisp. What could be causing the
mushiness? Any sure-fire tips on how to keep the pickles crisp? Thanks for any
