ISO: Dick's Bakery (San Jose, CA) Burnt Almond Cake

This is the best cake ever! From what I have been told, many people (including some famous chefs) have tried to clone this recipe unsuccessfully.
I had it while I was in California and it was so amazing but I live in NY and they won't ship one to me so I am forced to beg on the internet for a copycat recipe instead.
Please help!
