ISO: How much saffron

Misc.
I dug into my pocket a while back and splurged on some saffron threads, but I have yet to use them. I've read up a bit on them and understand that if you use too much in rice or a dish, it will taste metallic or something like that.

I a better idea than what the books gave me on how much is enough, say, for 2 cups of cooked rice? 1 thread? 2 threads? 3?

Thanks a lot. I appreciate the help.
