The usual measure is 1/2 tsp. per cup of raw rice. I know it is hard to measure a 1/2 teaspoon of the stuff. I usually pinch it a little so it will fit in the spoon. I like to make a pilaf with rice, green onions, about 1/4 cup raisins or currents, using chicken or vegetable stock and the saffron. Then top it with some toasted cashews or almonds. I also suggest you go a little light the first time you try it until you decide for yourself how much is right for your taste.
