ISO: I need a recipe for a good easy hot dog relish for canning .

Misc.
I would like a tried and true recipe for a easy pickle relish .My mother-in-law made one in her younger years with cucumbers and bell peppers and walla walla onions. We cant get it to taste right like hers and she never writes any recipe down she did it all with a dab of this and dab of that. I have not canned or done a pickle relish before so please explain it like I am a 10 year old this is a foreign way of cooking to me ...I have canned stewed tomatoes for 25 years and a couple of others but this is a first of the pickle relish. Thanks for your help! Tami
