ISO: Maple Flavoring Substitute

What can I use to substitute maple flavoring. I can't find it here in Brazil. I have maple syrup ( always stock up when I come up to visit family). Can I use the syrup instead? would the measure be the same? should I boil down the syrup to make it more concetrated??? I want to make maple cookies . Thanks
