ISO: My Grandmothers Christmas Dessert

Misc.
I am looking for my grandmother's Christmas dessert. It was baked for our large family in a big baking dish. It was dark and cake-like, but had things in it. I believe they were raisins or dates, pecans, etc. When she made it, it looked like a bumpy cake on top. When she served it, it had a sauce under the cake-like top. So she scooped into it and turned the spoon upside down and the sauce came.down over the cake-like top part. I saw the dark sauce in the bottom of the pan under the cake-like top. If you have any idea what it is, I would be so grateful to have it. As the grandma now, I want to teach it to my grandchildren.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
