ISO: perk coffee maker

Misc.

I have a very old electric perk coffee pot. It is the kind that is not automatic so you have to unplug it after the coffee perks. Does anyone know how much coffee to use and how long you let coffee perk before you unplug the unit. Also do you put basket in coffee pot before or after the water gets hot. I want to use my Grandmother's silver perk coffee maker but have no clue!!!!\
