ISO: Poached pear dessert

I have lost my recipe for a dessert I made several times. It was originally published in the Simply Splendid section of Food & Wine in the late '70s. It included poaching pear halves in a flavored liguid, making a delicate vanilla custard, placing the pears cut side down in the custard and drizzling the whole thing with carmelized sugar and slivered toasted almonds. It is so easy and delicious. I have contacted Food and Wine and they cannot locate it.
