ISO: Thumbprint cookies with chocolate filling from the 70's & 80's.

We had a bakery in our small town when I was a young girl that made the very best thumbprint cookies. The bakery relocated and eventually closed down many years ago. I have tried to find the recipe for the cookies for quite a while with no luck. They are a dense cookie, no nuts, with a generous piping of chocolate (frosting) in the center. The cookie alone is fairly dry, but the chocolate makes it delicious. I've found similar cookies at United and WalMart, but they still fall short of the original.

I would greatly appreciate any info or recipes for these cookies.
