ISO: Triangular Shaped Doughnuts

Misc.
As a child in the Midwest I enjoyed these doughnut-like little cakes at a neighbors. They would not share the recipe with my mom at that time as they sold them commercially to local restaurants. They appeared as though they were made in a triangle shaped press. There was no hole in the center but there was an indentation in the middle. The cake like portion was yellow, very moist and dense, and there were little bits of chocolate chips. They were wonderful. Tasted baked/pressed, not fried. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
