ISO: What causes stains on glass cooktop

Misc.
I saw your message about the stains that appear on your glass cooktop when cooking. I seem to have the same problem every now and then. I have a EURO KERA. I don't have a problem cleaning it but I just don't know why I get the stains. I am using the pans that are suggested. My sister has a glass/ceramic top and hers just wipes off with sponge or dish cloth (no stains)
