for Picadillo is white rice and fried plantains (either sweet (ripe)plantains baked or fried or the savory tostones). Another option is to use it for EMPANADILLAS (round circles of flour-somewhat like crepes-stuffed with PICADILLO & deep fried). The EMPANADILLAS, depending on the size are appetizers or serve as accompaniment to the main dish. The picadillo serves as stuffing for mashed potatoes in a special casserole (PASTELON DE PAPA) or also as a stuffing for potato croquettes. There is a special casserole that we call PINON whose main ingredients are fried slices of ripe (sweet) plantains stuffed with PICADILLO and haricorts vert (Green beans). But mainly, it can be served over white rice or mashed potatoes, sometimes with a fried egg over it.
