Hello again Jo,

No the sour cream doesn't replace the liquid in the directions on the box, it's in addition to the other ingredients.

Another cooking tip is to add a couple of tablespoons (approx.) of lemon juice to the cream cheese icing for carrot cake. It really livens it up and takes away that overly sweet taste.
