A Cheesecake question

Misc.

I want to make a cheesecake for a company dinner, so I went to the library and
took out some cookbooks with cheesecake recipes. So many recipes and they all look good. I've finally narrowed down my choices. Can someone tell me the difference between a 'New York Style' cheesecake and other cheesecakes. Please, everyone, give me your opinions on this. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.
