Recipe: Sloppy Joes (using chili sauce and beer, 1980's)

Main Dishes - Beef and Other Meats
SLOPPY JOES

2 tbsp oil
2 medium green bell peppers, chopped
1 onion, chopped
4 clove garlic chopped
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
Pinch of thyme
1 1/2 pounds ground beef
1 cup chili sauce
1 cup beer
3 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp hot pepper sauce
Toasted buns or French bread (for serving)

Heat oil and add green pepper, onion, garlic, salt, pepper and thyme. Cook until tender and remove from skillet; set aside.

Cook beef in skillet.

Add onion mixture, chili sauce, beer, Worcestershire, and pepper sauce. Simmer 10 minutes.

Serve over toasted buns or French bread.
