Cheesecakes - my opinion

From what I have read, it seems that the plain cheesecakes i.e. the cream cheese, egg, sugar, vanilla and possibly a bit of lemon flavouring in the filling and possibly a sour cream topping, are what constitute New York cheesecakes. There was a very famous cheesecake from a place called Lindy's in NY that had a pineapple topping too as far as I can remember so that could be NY cheesecake too.
I have a great recipe from Gourmet mag. that everyone raves about in case you want a tried and tested recipe.
