Cake Ideas

I usually bake cupcakes for my daughter's birthday as her parties have taken place at her ppreschool... however, here are a few non-cupcake ideas:

-> Hat cake. Make a layer cake where the bottom layer is larger than the top layer. Frost. Decorate with flowers made from rolled-out gumdrops.

-> Little Mermaid Cake (theme ALWAYS goes over well with girls!). Make a sheet cake. Frost. Use decorator icing to draw the face and torso of the mermaid. Use Necco wafers to make the fishscales on her tail.

-> Tutrle Cake. Make a bowl-shaped cake (as you would for the ladybug). Use a whole cupcake for thehead, and cupcakes cut in half for the legs. Forst head and legs with chocolate frosting. Frost body with green frosting. Mark a shell pattern on the body with a butterknife. Use two red candies for the eyes.
