Casino theme party - a couple ideas

Misc.
Hi, Amy - the party sounds like fun. You're smart to start planning early. I've been mulling your theme over, but since I've never been to a real casino, I can't help much. I think I'd be inclined to go high-class, like a European casino. Maybe a champagne punch? Also, there's a recipe previously posted on TKL for antipasto kebabs - maybe you could do those, but cut the meat and cheese to card suit shapes - diamonds and hearts and so on. You ought to be able to find a heart cookie cutter even if you can't find the other shapes (a diamond should be easy enough to fake), for some simple roll-and-cut cookies to add to the dessert table.
If you have the time and patience, you can dress fresh strawberries in "tuxedos" by dipping the fronts in melted white chocolate, then dipping the rest (except for a V to let the white shirt front show) and then dotting chocolate buttons onto the white. They take some time, but they look great and taste even better. If you find them too tricky, you can always go with just chocolate-dipped strawberries, always classy.
Well, I hope this helps a little, maybe someone with more casino experience can help more!
