Containing Horseradish

Hi Barb: I have grown Horseradish very succesfully in - are you ready for this - a 50 gal drum!! We cut the drum in to two parts ( 1/3 and 2/3rd's) and cut the top & bottom off. Now I had two metal cylinders in the garden. I painted the outside, placed them where I wanted them and then, filled them up with soil. One holds the Mint in check the larger one keeps the Horseradish under control. I just dig out what I want for dinner - the root of the horseradish - peel it, grate it and add a little bit of white vinegar. The longer you wait to add the vinegar, the hotter it will be. I just leave it there year after year, digging up some whenever we have roast beef! Note: don't compost the peelings:0 Bev
