DEB- Buying Vanilla Beans

Misc.

The ones I like the best are sold by Williams -sonoma; they are Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla Beans; they are packaged in a long glass tube and the brand name is Mielsen-Massey. I've also purchased them in the supermarket and the health food store - in the spice section. They are in jars like the other spices and the brand I bought was Spice Garden.
They can be reused. After you scrape them for use in your rice pudding or cake, you can put the remainder of the pod in your sugar bowl. If they dry up and lose their fragrance you can put hot water over them, let them dry and bury them in the sugar bowl again. Vanilla is the best fragrance in the world.
