Fermented pickles (re: Canning Clausen-Type Pickles)

Yes, you process the pickles in the brine. Filter the brine to remove all the debris. Pack sterilized quart jars with pickles. Pour brine into the jar. Remove air bubbles. Add additional brine to bring the headspace to 1/2-inch. Wipe rims and threads clean, seal, and process in a simmering hot water bath at 170 degrees for 15 minutes. Remove and place on towel in a draft free area. Let jars stand for 12 hours. Label and date. Store in a dark, cool area.
