since I don't even know her scratch recipe for the basic cake. In one of my Mom's old cookbooks there are two Maraschino cherry cake recipes but neither have the coconut in the batter. I know for a while she tried to "re-create" the recipe she lost and she was never totally pleased with the results. (She'd go "NO that's not it, close but not it"). I think my Dad and I would be happy with just "close" :) Thanks!
