ISO: Marchino Cherry w/coconut cake...I know I'm asking a lot here since

Misc.

I won't really recognize the recipe if I see it. My Mom made this throughout my childhood and years ago lost her recipe. My Mom has recently passed away. I've searched thru her 1950's cookbooks and found a few similar - this one wasn't in a cookbook of hers or she wouldn't have lost it in the first place! I know she had searched and searched and tried many similar ones but could not find "that" one. It was a large tube cake (yellow, I think)with marchino cherries and coconut in the batter, but you really couldn't taste the coconut (it was camoflauged beautifully for us coconut haters:)) and just added great taste and moistness. It had a thick white icing glaze that kind of hardened on the outside. It was my & my Dad's favorite and I would love to make it for him for the holidays. Mom didn't have the internet at her fingertips so I'd like to give this a shot and would appreciate any responses. Thanks in advance.
