Info: Devonshire Cream

Misc.

Real Devonshire Cream is 'clotted' cream. It's the richest milkfat there is...traditionally 'creamed' off the top of the milk directly after milking the cow. It is not sweet...just very rich. It is incredibly thick looks almost like cream cheese but the flavour is unique... it is nothing like cream cheese. It is usually sold in boxes...stays fresh for just 4 days...can't be canned caused canned things are cooked to keep 'em fresh. Most countries other than England insist on milk products being pastureized...this treatment prevents 'clotting'...so no England no Devonshire cream...unless you get very friendly with a farmer and his cows.
