JuneMA...more on the Rowenta iron...

Misc.

Hi June:

Thank you for the kind words of understanding. I can't believe your husband wore TWO a day. You must have been a slave to the old ironing board!

Everytime I go into a men's department, I see if they have any shirts on sale, and if they have a nice one, I buy it. My husband has many shirts now (I'm too embarrassed to say how many.) That way I don't HAVE to iron every week. I usually choose a day when it looks like he is running low and then spend the whole day (sometimes two days) in front of the TV watching movies, and ironing. He worked in Baltimore for several years and I loved it there because there were so many dry cleaners that would take them for $l.00 each and I did that pretty often. Now I live an hour away from a dry cleaners and in addition to being very inconvenient, they charge $2.00 to $2.25 each!!! and they don't do a very good job. So, I'm pretty much stuck doing them myself. (Another nice thing about Baltimore was that we were easily able to have shirts tailor-made for him there. We haven't found a place we like as well here yet.)

LOL on divorce ending the problem - God knows I've been tempted a time or two.

My second Rowenta is still in the box, and after reading your questions about it, I got it out to look at it. I was surprised to learn that Rowenta was founded in Germany in 1884 - I can't really tell if they are saying they introduced the first electric iron or just that they improved on it after its introduction. Sounds like they're saying they introduced it. It says, "Beginning with the introduction of the first electic iron over 85 years ago, our long history of ironing innovations continue to this day: the introduction of the first thermostat in 1949, the first steam iron in 1957, the first iron with electric temperature control in 1979, the first iron with automatic shut-off in 1985 and, in 1995, the world's first motor driven iron." [Oh man, that's the one I want!!!! Reminds me of Roseanne, who said she wasn't going to vaccuum until Sears came out with a riding vaccuum cleaner.]

Sounds like they've been at this a long time - must be just getting known in the USA. They have a web site: www.rowentausa.com. I haven't checked that out, but I did do a price check on the QVC web site and they run from about $70 to $100, except for a deluxe model with separate steam container for, I think, $215.

Anyway, I'm sure this more than answers your questions about Rowenta. Let me know if you buy one and how you like it.

Jan
