Low Fat /Low Salt Info and Suggestions

Misc.
Hello Jackie,

I think you'll find our Healthy Cooking Recipes and Resources section helpful. We also have a collection of links to nutrition calculators for looking up info on specific foods.

To help with analyzing recipes, you may want to consider a recipe database program. Many will calculate the nutritional value of each recipe you enter and as you alter it and most have recipes included. One in particular to consider is MasterCook 5.0 Cooking Light (this link will take you to Amazon but you can probably find this software locally). To check out other programs available, visit our Software for Cooks section.

Some books to consider (may be available at your local library):

American Heart Association Low-Salt Cookbook

Cooking Without a Grain of Salt

Cooking ala Heart Cookbook: Delicious Heart Healthy Recipes to Reduce the Risk of Heart Disease and Stroke

Cooking the Fat-Free, Salt-Free, Sugar-Free Flavor-Full Way

Get the Salt Out: 501 Simple Ways to Cut the Salt Out of Any Diet

I hope that's a help!
