Miss Daisy's 5 flavor Pound Cake

MISS DAISY’S FIVE FLAVOR POUND CAKE WITH GLAZE

Ingredients:

1 c butter, softened

1/2 c vegetable shortening

3 c sugar

5 eggs, well beaten

3 c all-purpose flour

1/2 t baking powder

1 c whole milk

1 t each coconut, butter, lemon, rum and vanilla extracts

Glaze:

1 c sugar

1/2 c water

1 t each coconut, butter, lemon, rum and vanilla extracts

Directions: Assemble all ingredients and utensils. In large bowl, cream butter, shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs. Combine flour and baking powder. Add to cream mixture alternately with milk. Stir in flavorings. Spoon batter into a greased 10-inch tube pan. Bake in a 325 oven for 1 1/2 hours or until cake tests done. Add glaze or cool in pan about 10 minutes before turning out. To make the glaze, combine all ingredients and gently bring to a boil in a saucepan. Let cake sit in pan until cool. Yield: 14-16 slices
