RE: Canning Turkey Soup

Melody, you will be better off freezing it. Adding rice to soup is not a good idea. It turns to mush. Also, some herbs may become very bitter when canned. It would have to be canned in a pressure canner since it is a low acid food.

As for the jars, they can sometimes be used with success in a boiling water canner if the regular canning jar lids fit, but that would just be for fruits. They do not withstand the high heat of the pressure canner. If you wish to have a recipe for canning turkey or regular broth, I can either post for you or you can type in the search box above the posts and find some information.
