re: Christmas in Mexico

Misc.
Hi, Kathryn --

I can tell you by experience from living here in Central California that tamales are a big part of the holidays. They are time-consuming but homemade tamales are absolutely delicious. I know that in a lot of the Mexican families all of the women get together and form an assembly line. They make dozens and dozens and each woman gets to take home a whole bunch for her family. If you don't have the time to make them, perhaps you can find someplace that sells good ones. We have grocery stores here in the Central Valley that sell primarily Central American food with a heavy emphasis on Mexican. They all have excellent tamales. Trader Joe's frozen tamales are pretty good too. But if you have time, you might try your own assembly line. Post me if you want a recipe!
