re: Smoked Salt

Misc.
Smoking salt takes hours. I just smoked 1/2 cup of salt in a dense hickory smoke for 45 minutes. The actual flavor imparted was minimal. Research elsewhere says that you need to smoke salt for hours to get reasonable flavors, I'm guessing 6-8 to get started. SaltWorks does theirs for between 10 and 15 hours. If you smoke salt for 20 minutes its going to taste like. . .salt.
