re: sweet potatoes in Chinese dishes
Misc. nope, we Chinese use a lot of sweet potatoes in both savoury and desserts. however, i have never heard of it's been the lucky colour as a reason to use it though... :)) mom likes to use it for the glutinous rice ball (in sweet ginger soup, a kind of chinese dessert) and this dish as well. she said it makes the balls softer and less"stuffy" if using glutinous flour alone... maybe it's just her idea???
