Good idea to ASK here! :) I have an older whilrpool and like it VERY much. I clean for a lady who has a newer ge and I don't like it as well.

Mine has the silverware in the door, didn't think I would like this but do. gives me more room for dishes, which I need with 4 kids! It also has a "food ginder" built in, a must as far as I'm concerned. by the wyay whirlpool makes kenmore.

If you want a quiet machine, and the quiet pac makes the price sore, yoou can make that quiet yourself with pink insulation wraped on before you sintall, or line you inside cupbard with insulation, even if you get a quiet model ... really helps!

I have seen them with the back glass part higher and don't like that, smaller glasses can fit in lower areas, and the amount of room it gives plattters undernith is not significant.

You might want to call around to the repair places and see what they get the most calls on & why. There is a place i vistited when I (entirely my fault!) broke mine on line and got info on how to fix. They have bulletin boards like this. Repair techs from all over visit and give advise. they have seprerate boards for each major company, if i were you I would go to each board and ask the qestion ...
"Buying new dishwasher, plz. give recomendations or cautions thx!"

You might benifit from reading some of the posts there as well ... like i saw a lot of the appliances have the same problems so would lead me to think it is a design flaw maybe ... this site is :
