Gingerbread ideas

Misc.
Hi Becky - good luck with your project! I would like to suggest that you find Betsy's Gingerbread House links here at this site. One of the ones I looked at did use a shoe box as an easy form to make the house sturdy and much easier to put together.

A couple of no-bake ideas of seen for the walls are graham crackers, pretzel logs (for the log cabin effect), and I just saw Martha Stewart do one on her show built entirely of sugar cubes (used like bricks).

For the roof, "Martha" just glued (with royal icing) straight peppermint sticks to a piece of cardboard scored in the middle so it would bend neatly to make the top of the roof. Using the cardboard makes it all seem so much easier.

I hope others have lots more ideas for you, esp. how you can deal with the "glue" situation. Good luck!
