Recipe(tried): Sparerib and Pearl Barley Soup

OK, here is another simple family dish from me. I think it may be useful for those who live in the northern hemsphere as wintering is slowly creeping in... :)

Sparerib and Pearl Barley Soup

serve 4
2/3 lb. (300g) spareribs or meaty pork bones for making soup (if you only eat the soup and don't like to eat the meat after the soup is cooked. Trust me on this one as I know a lot of people only take the "soup".)

c. pearl barley (Ask your local Asian gorcer about this. It's different from what I found in the western supermarkets!)
1 slice "tang kuei" (a kind of Chinese medicinal herb. Can be easily found in most Asian shop. I remember read in on medical journal about it's healing property for PMS somewhere .???)
4 cup water
t. salt
3 T. Chinese cooking wine (use the best you can find! It makes great difference!)

Place spareribs and (1) in a pot. Bring it to a boil then turn down the fire to simmer for about 50 minutes or until the meat on the bones are falling off and the soup is tasty.

** This dish may be steamed in rice cooker.
