Recipe(tried): BAKLAVA with FRUIT SAUCE

Misc.
Baklava with fruit sauce:

It would be difficult returning to honey-heavy baklava after trying this uniquely nutty version.

1 1/2 cups chopped pecans
1/2 cup chopped pistachio nuts
1/2 cup sesame seeds
1/4 cup honey
1 1/4 tsp. lemon juice
1 1/4 tsp. cinnamon

6 sheets phyllo dough

Combine well in a bowl the nuts, seeds honey lemon juice and cinnamon.

Cut each phyllo dough into 5 inch X 5 inch pieces, totaling 32 pieces. Using 2 pieces for each baklava one on top of each other , spread approx. 1 tbsp. of above nut mixture in center of each piece of phyllo dough. Bring corners of dough together and pinch above nut mixture to seal. Place on cookie sheet and bake approx. 10 minutes or until golden brown. Set aside. Serve warm with the following fruit sauce.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Lightly oiled cookie sheet. Makes 16 pieces.

FRUIT SAUCE:

1/2 cup orange juice
1/2 cup apple juice

3 small apples, peeled, cored, and cut into wedges.
