Recipe(tried): Beef Barley Soup that's GGGREAT!!!

2 to 3 small beef marrow bones
1 to 2lbs. chuck steak (or lean stew meat)
1/2 pkg. pearl barley
1/2 pkg. dried green split peas
1/2 pkg. dried baby lima beans
3 1/2 potatoes plus 1/2 potato grated
5 carrots
4 stalks celery (sliced)
1 cooking onion (chopped)
3 cloves garlic (chopped)
dash of salt, pepper, celery salt, basil, parsley, marjoram, oregano, rosemary, thyme
1 tsp. sugar
(be creative with the seasonings-season to taste
Put vegetables, meat, bones in large pot and fill full with water. Boil 10 minutes and remove bubbly stuff. Add barley, peas, beans, and seasoning. Reduce heat to 3 or 4 stirring often.
Add liquid as needed (I add 1 can healthy request chicken broth after apprx. 1 hour). Total cooking time is approx. 4 hours.
I add 10 oz. of dry pasta (I like rotini) 1 hour before soup is ready.
