Recipe(tried): Bouganvillia Fun....

Tips and Tricks - Cooking
Hello Lisa!

I too, live in sunny Florida and if it is one thing the Bouganvillia craves, it is the sun, lots of it, and very dry conditions.

When you first get your plant, check out the sunniest location of the yard and that is where you will plant it. Never plant bushes up against the wall of a house...plant them about 2 feet from the house leaving enough room for you to walk behind the bushes and the wall. No moisture should ever be up against the walls for sustained periods of time. Water your little plants for 7 straight days and then let nature take over. Let the bouganvillia survive with only the rainfall that falls down on it. In fact, bouganvillia loves drought. The drier the soil, the more blooms you will have. Plant bouganvillia in a shady spot and all you will get is beautiful foliage and no flowers.

No need to fertilize it, let nature take over. It is one of the showiest flower bush of Florida.

Pentas and geraniums are also sure winners!!

Good luck and happy gardening! Gina
