Recipe: Butter Crunch

BUTTER CRUNCH
1 1/3 c. sugar
1 c. butter (no substitutes)
1/2 c. light corn syrup
1 tsp. vanilla
8 c. popped corn
1 c. pecan halves, toasted
1 c. whole almonds, toasted
In a heavy 1 1/2 quart saucepan, combine sugar, butter and syrup. Bring to boiling over medium heat, stirring constantly. Cook, stirring occasionally until mixture turns caramel color and reaches 290 degrees. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Pour syrup over popped corn, and nuts in a buttered baking pan. Separate into clusters with two forks. Cool and store in a tightly covered container.
