Recipe: Chess Squares (2)

CHESS SQUARES

1 box yellow cake mix
1/2 c. oleo, softened
1 egg, beaten
1 1/2 c. chopped pecans

Mix cake mix, oleo, egg and pecans. Pat into the bottom
of a 13 x 9-inch cake pan.
8 oz. cream cheese, softened
3 eggs, beaten
1 Tbsp. vanilla
1 lb. sifted powdered sugar

Mix cream cheese, eggs, vanilla and powdered sugar until smooth.
Spread on top of fruit layer.
Bake at 325 F. for 45 minutes or until golden brown.
Cut in squares while warm before top crust hardens.CHESS SQUARES
2 sticks margarine
1 box brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
4 eggs
2 c. plain flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/8 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Mix margarine, brown sugar and white sugar.
Add eggs, one at a time, and beat well after each addition.
Fold into this mixture flour, baking powder, salt, vanilla and nuts.
Stir until well mixed.
Pour in greased 13 x 9-inch pan.
Bake at 325 F. for 40 minutes to 1 hour.
