Recipe(tried): Macintosh Apple Bundt Cake (using orange juice, 1960's)

MACINTOSH APPLE BUNDT CAKE

My mom's recipe from a 1960's newspaper clipping.



FOR THE APPLE MIXTURE:
5 Macintosh apples; sliced thin
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
FOR THE BATTER:
3 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
4 eggs
1 cup vegetable oil
1/3 cup orange juice
2 teaspoons vanilla

TO PREPARE THE APPLE MIXTURE:
Pare apples and slice thin; about 5 cups. Make mixture of 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle over apples. Toss lightly and set aside.

TO MAKE THE BATTER:
Put flour, 2 cups sugar, baking soda, baking powder, salt, eggs, oil, orange juice, and vanilla in a bowl. Blend together with a mixer on low speed for 1 minute. then beat for 4 minutes at medium speed.

TO ASSEMBLE AND BAKE:
In a greased Bundt pan, starting with batter, layer apple and batter, ending with batter.

Bake 350 degrees F for 1 1/2 hours.
